Sun Kil Moon - Tiny Cities

Back in 2003 Sun Kil Moon aka Mark Kozelek put out a great folk album Ghosts of the Great Highway. Now he's back with Tiny Cities, an album of all cover tunes of Modest Mouse. I love Modest Mouse and I have to say I was anxious to see how this album would come out. And I have to say that this is everything what I expected and more.

Including songs from almost all of Modest Mouse discography, it strips out the typically energetic rock and allows the listener to pay more attention to the lyrics and realize how great of songwriter Isaac Brock is. Even Tiny Cities Made of Ashes which was one of my least favorite songs, and got very few listens, is now one of my favorites. It is going to be very hard to narrow down a top 10 album list by the end of the year at this rate. Note: Sun Kil Moon's - Tiny Cities comes out next Tuesday, November 1st, 2005.

TV Sucks

I just watched a terrible movie last night. Sometimes you're in the mood for a bad movie, kind of like Alien vs. Predator, which may I add is better than I expected. But this movie's poor quality took me by surprise. Ok first off, it has Clint Eastwood. Ok Oscar winner, did Mystic River, The Good, Bad, and the Ugly, Million Dollar Baby, can't go wrong no? Wrong. The movie was shown on HBO Signature, all the movies are classics, right? Wrong. It's a drama/murder mystery, oh I love those! Let me reiterate, this movie was awful! This movie was so predictable, poorly written, and terribly directed. The movie played like James Bond was the lead character in Basic Instinct, but at least Basic Instinct was a good movie! So, next time you see this on tv and you think might want to waste 115 minutes of your life, try watching Alien vs. Predator. Excuse me while I write a letter to Clint asking for 115 minutes of my life back.
